TWICE UPON A LIE

by Sue Turner

transparent as vellum
the elected reminisce
from memory disjointed

moss-clad cells conceal
frail connections to truth
history varies day by day

distorted as bad fiction
reality takes hindquarter
in words pocked by rubble

Sue Turner's left brain turned right about a decade ago when writing and painting replaced gainful employment.
