JUST A NOTE TO OBAMA

by Rob Spiegel

You said you were going to change things,
presumably for the better, and that we could
count on it. We agreed, almost wholeheartedly.

Soon we were busy with our own lives, which became
more difficult when Larry left Amy and her kids
and my hours were cut. We figured you would

get back to us about the changes, and you did.
But we have a hard time understanding what
you’re saying now, except you seem so earnest. We

almost feel sorry for you. No, we’re not quite satisfied.
But we didn’t expect you to solve our problems. Yet you
could have helped us feel a little better about everything.

We love you and we always will. But maybe you need
to start shouting about all this crap that’s pulling us down.
