SALAD OF LATE SUMMER TOMATOES ON ROSH HASHANAH

by Karen Greenbaum-Maya

Sheltered from scorch
at a west-facing wall,
morning spent shaded,
they’re rather small.

Cut in halves, then thirds,
then thirds again.
Eighteen chunks each.
L’chaim. Say when.
