DOLOROSA MATER
by Bill Costley
for Cindy Sheehan
One sorrowful Mother
dragged her bleeding heart
to a ditch near his retreat
& he would not see her.
Her family disowned her;
her husband divorced her.
O, World, do not ignore
this sorrowful Mother
so disowned by power.
Bill Costley serves on the Steering Committee of the San Francisco chapter of the National Writers' Union.
