Energized by epiphanies and electoral
collegiality Skeleton meandered
in his garden, communing with roses.
He no longer wore his ten-gallon
hat (which actually held three quarts).
Only Nosey, the newsboy's dog, noticed
Skeleton wore only his thin skin, dry bones
rattling within. Nosey, who knew a
thing or two about bones, barked
until guards, aids, came running
to wrap a robe around Skeleton. But
there was a leak (it may have been Nosey).
Yellow journalists cried. Skeleton's
staff denied. Pundits prophesied.
Security shuddered. The people
worried about Erectile Dysfunction
and Restless Leg Syndrome.
