MODERN LIVING
by Carla Laureen Henry
The loam of living,
bills, mortgages,
groceries and utilities
siphoning
Maslow's
Self-
Actualization
Drum Drum
roll goals,
by well paid
motivators.
Homeless ambu
lating along
pissed
streets
alleys,
on-ramps to
fastlane hell.
Fall
out
from wars,
mental cases,
job losers --
bad luck
bad genes
bad dreams
child abuse.
Fire
storms
are blowing
homes off
mountains
where devel
op
ers bulldoze
oaks, rocks,
erect super-
track playhouses
sliding
into a
neighborly
Howdy
Doody
compels
Hiroshima --
all that foreshadows.
Family values
sanction
corporate theft
diversify and
deregulate
and meemeemee
me
meeeee.
Let the masses
multiply to be
buried enmass
from flu, AIDS,
tuberculosis
starvation,
wars
not to disappoint
bible thumpers
dire warnings
Let the sirens
blast, damnation
is screaming
do
not
pack
your
clothes.
