A wolf sings
out my back gate
where does he go
at four a.m.?
The undergrowth
is cool, calming.
Tonight, we are
both prey
to the sky gods,
hungry meteors
dripping from the
womb
a golden apple
waiting for the
sleeping hero
to awaken
