HELL

by Clyde Always

Eight measly months remain until
the climate summit’s here.
So, highway builders of Brazil,
we’ve got a path to clear!

Go raze that swath of jungle there!
Knock down that açai!
How deeply, for the Earth, we care
the summiteers shall see.

We’ll labor on it, night and day—
our dying world be saved!
This road will be, it’s safe to say,
with good intentions paved.

AN ALL-AMERICAN INCENTIVE

by Clyde Always

At last the rates of jabs are up
in states where were the leasest
which are, coincidentally,
the ones that rank obesest.

Miraculous. Perplexing though…
what reason for could this be?
It seems they upped the bribe a bit:
two kremes and both are krispy.

ANY QUESTIONS?

by Clyde Always

Beware “the Delta”—COVID’s spawn
and, coming soon : “the Epsilon”
(Cyrillic once the Grecian’s gone).
So, be you willing-to or not,
you’ll get your monthly booster shot.

But, if the needle makes you flinch,
then drop your muzzle just an inch
and brace to feel the slightest pinch…
  Bi-weekly this procedure goes:
we jam a Q-tip up your nose.

If still ill-motives you presume
we’ll lock you in a padded room
where daily lectures via ZOOM
we hope may help you yet to learn
your health’s our only real concern.
