As the death toll passes one thousand
it is obvious even to experts
the war in Afghanistan’s an illusion
concealing our foreign aid which
voters would never approve in
straightforward dollars. War it seems
has always been Afghanistan’s
business. We support it with covert
generosity: the bodies collateral cost.
