STATE OF THE EPSTEIN CLASS’S UNION

by Raymond Nat Turner

Cartoon by Nick Anderson

Disabling flying fingers of 14 fact-checkers; blowing out 30

bullshit detectors. One hour and 41 minutes of Tourettes with-

out regrets. Specious Olympics of Lying—stuck the landing—

flooding the zone with dreck.

Elephant excrement flooded Fox-boxes of viewers and listeners laid

back on La-Z-Boys, red cap electrodes attached to shaved heads, their

Tariff Sheriff telling them, “We’re the hottest country in the world!”

The roaring economy is roaring like never before. Golden Age of America.

Their Tariff Sheriff told them we the greatest. Biggest. Best-est. Most-est

in history. Told them the price of eggs in Erehwon, along with butter, fruit

and rents are way, way down. And gas is less than two dollars a gallon at

Shangri-La stations. And 401Ks are way, way, way up for lil folks of Oz.

His wild-eyed Cruel Reich Cult members wore holes in trousers and skirts

springing up like jack-in-the-boxes applauding long and loud and often.

Some fractured greasy thumbs and bloody hands clapping so hard, for so

long, over and over again.

Like rabid, frothing-mouthed lynch mob, they cheered Big Beautiful Bank Job

and dastardly deeds of DOGE: Department of Grifter Enrichment. Sidelining

survivors and protecting Epstein Class pedophiles flying Lolita Express 39,000 feet

above borders and accountability they orgiastically chanted, “U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A!”

And their Tariff Sheriff told them he’s ended 8 wars, including the Mexican War;

War with Spain; French and Indian War; War Of 1812. Told them he rebuilt and

rebranded the Wehrmacht “Peace through strength.” And doing it is costing a trillion

dollars—along with blitzkrieg-warp speed redaction of our rights and freedoms…

AFTER THE PRESIDENT SPOKE ON DEMOCRACY

by Indran Amirthanayagam

The day is coming, and nobody
is turning away. It is coming like
sun rising, like rain about to burst

from cloud, and no matter
where you stand on this earth
you will feel the thunder clap,

the roar of the volcano
blowing its top, and you will
be amazed and chastened,

and you will hug love beside
you, love in dreams, love
in history. These are end

times, to take stock,
to remember, to say
thank you, to wash away

the fog of amnesia. Clarity.
Piercing. Truth telling,
standing with families of

the disappeared everywhere.
These are times of forgiveness,
of searing light despite

forces of ruin, of sore
losing, of twisting laws,
of dictatorship. These

are times for the new
civil contract, not
guns but mind,

not mockery
but respect, not
cult but democrat.

Indran Amirthanayagam's newest book is Ten Thousand Steps Against the Tyrant (BroadstoneBooks). Recently published is Blue Window (Ventana Azul), translated by Jennifer Rathbun.(Dialogos Books). In 2020, Indran produced a “world" record by publishing three new poetry books written in three languages: The Migrant States (Hanging Loose Press, New York), Sur l'île nostalgique (L’Harmattan, Paris) and Lírica a tiempo (Mesa Redonda, Lima). MARJORIE'S LIQUID SALAD

by Diane Elayne Dees

we have ever known, and he still cuts a fine figure,
in or out of uniform. Perhaps Almodóvar
can call him to duty, for Marjorie has gone
far beyond the verge of a nervous breakdown.
This time, Officer Carlos will have to stay sober:
The future of an entire nation depends on him,
as he sorts tomatoes and cucumbers and bell peppers
for Nancy, and collects enough white bread
to thicken the soup before he spikes it,
and renders Congress near-unconscious—
yet how could we tell?
There is no need for spying—
the schemes and plots and crimes
are all on display in plain sight.
Officer Carlos and Nancy eat a cold soup
of anarchy, dishonored pledges, cult devotion,
and blueprints for total destruction,
while an entire nation—on the verge—awaits.

Diane Elayne Dees is the author of the chapbook Coronary Truth (Kelsay Books) and the forthcoming chapbook The Last Time I Saw You. Diane, who lives in Covington, Louisiana, also publishes Women Who Serve, a blog that delivers news and commentary on women's professional tennis throughout the world.

LONG LIVE THE LAST KING

by Mickey J. Corrigan

People are saying it’s the biggest
the greatest, the best crowd
this shithole has ever seen
sleek limos slide through, his face
at the bulletproof window
mouth open, golf cap tight
on his oversize head

People are saying
the crowd's as big as Lincoln's
and everyone wept, even Jesus
the fans wild with joy
racecar thrilled to see him
to be seen by him
the man who would be king

People are not saying
he took an appalling strut
across the world stage
that ended in folly, farce
reflecting internal unrest
bubbling anger, belligerence
and distrust of everyone else

People aren't saying
he was a mad genius
skilled at detecting weakness
in a narrow human range
of emotions others feel
absent in his lurking bulk
under the ruby crown
the bloated expression
of abject fear

People aren't asking
why the devout followers
of this crazy cult
still willing to sicken
maskless in the face
of scientific evidence, millions
of facts like corpses piling up
vowing to win at all costs
or die trying
