The rituals must be respected
But we do not pause the work
Choice is not a word we know
These corridors are splendid
Glowing, aromatic, and endless
Leading to the golden treasuries
It is our life to keep them filled
We will do what we were born to do
But it will no longer be sweet, for a King

STORYBOOK WEDDING
Two young dollar signs
hitched at St. George’s Chapel
and the dollar signs drive off
in a vintage Jaguar convertible.
Super-Mouth pronounces
it faithfully; she says
it’s romantic. But there’s nothing
romantic about dollar signs.
The dollar signs
must fulfill new roles,
Duchess and Duke—and they
sure do know it.
Dollar signs construe
all things under the sun.
The day pristine, the river
flowing, a victor’s history.
Super-Mouth drinks the flowers.
Super-Mouth weeps.
People of Great Britain rejoice!
Dollar signs vow
to cart the monarchy into
the future. Baby dollar signs
hover in the air. The moats
empty, the Queen hears
the jangling of ice cubes
in her rosé. She scans
the new couple, sparkling
like the crown jewels.

SING A SONG OF CAYMAN
Cayman as in Cayman (Islands)—often confused with the homophonous Caiman: A large aquatic reptile found in swamps and closely related to crocodiles and aligators.
To the Queen from her accountant:
'About Your Majesty's money?'
'The poor are always with one -
send it somewhere sunny!'
The Duke of York reminds her
the lion's share is hid,
'but we always have the Caymans Ma'am
to park ten million quid.'
The maid is in the garden
by the potting sheds
the Counting House is near
she hears everything he says.
'I'm on a bloody pittance -
the royals are in a bubble,
so I'm off to call the Daily Mail.
I'll cause a lot of trouble.'
The Monarchists are furious
they say 'Oh what's the point'
the latest royal palaver
puts their noses out of joint:
'Our taxes pay for parasites
like Charles and Parker Bowles
yet they're hiding all their private wealth
in tax exemption holes.'
The maid's in the Bahamas
enjoying a nice rest
the papers bought her story
'she's feathering her nest,'
the Monarchists go turncoat
agree The Crown's despotic
the headline on the front page:
OUR QUEEN'S UNPATRIOTIC.'
