ALMOST CHRISTMAS

by Howie Good

I check my e-mail before going to bed
and find a new message

the Migrant Education Center asking
for a woman’s winter coat small or medium

also gloves and a scarf

It’s almost Christmas it’s getting colder
and she walks her children to school every morning

as people sit at their computers hitting delete
